Welcome to Mt Difficulty Wines

With our founding vineyards established in 1992, Mt Difficulty owns some of the oldest vineyards and is one of the most respected wineries in the Central Otago region of New Zealand's rugged South Island. Situated in Bannockburn, a unique and rare area of extremes, Mt Difficulty has harnessed the once brutal terrain to produce premium wines at the forefront of Central Otago's wine production.

Mt Difficulty named as top producer in NZ Pinot Noir classification!

Ata Rangi, Felton Road and Mt Difficulty are the only wineries to have been given Five Stars in the Third Great New Zealand Pinot Noir Classification.

The classification, which is based on a rolling average rating of the five most recent vintages, has been produced by British wine writer Matthew Jukes and Australian wine writer Tyson Stelzer for five years.
