Mt Difficulty Pipeclay Terrace Pinot Noir 2005
Geoff Kelly tasted a number of Mt Difficulty Pinots amongst hundreds of others at January's 2007 Pinot Conference in Wellington. This is what he had to say about the 2005 Mt Difficulty Single Vineyard Pipeclay Terrace Pinot Noir:
“Big Pinot Noir ruby. Bouquet is more oaky than some of the top Otago wines, mingled with an interesting aromatic note and a faintly buttery component in the aroma, on generalized berry. Palate brings the wine back into the Otago black cherry line, being rich, long, reasonably well balanced in a more oaky interpretation relative to the standard Mt Difficulty, long aftertaste. Cellar 5-12 years, but for purity of varietal expression, go for the standard wine.” 18/20 - 4 stars View Mt Difficulty Pipeclay Terrace Pinot Noir 2005
